"A Personal Perspective: Fostering Understanding in the Recruitment Process for Foreign Candidates"
Empathy and understanding is a huge part of the recruitment process, especially when it comes to helping foreign candidates. Being French myself, I have a unique perspective that has allowed me to connect with foreign candidates who may be feeling apprehensive about sharing personal documents such as, eligibility to work in the UK.
From my own personal journey to the UK, I was also filled with questions and uncertainties about my rights to live and work in the UK. I also had to go through the process of applications, codes and eligibility checks, like many of the candidates that I am working with today.
When I ask foreign candidates for these necessary documents, I can sometimes see or hear the initial discomfort for them. This is a normal reaction as this information can be sensitive and the process can seem overwhelming. However, with my background, I am able to take a moment and share my personal experience with them and explain that I have also faced the same questions and doubts.
It is nice to empathise with my candidates and give them reassurance that they are not alone in the process and that I am here to help them find new work opportunities and help fulfil their career aspirations. It also allows candidates to feel more relaxed and confident in the process, knowing that I have also been in their situations and understand the challenges that they face.
At Cooper Golding, we strive to create a welcoming environment where our candidates know they can be open about their concerns. We aim to create a supportive atmosphere where candidates feel comfortable, valued and understood. Recruitment is not just about filing positions, its about building relationships and helping individuals find their perfect work place.
